MidMods Launches: A Modernist, Design‑Driven Reimagining of Pool Lounging
Malibu, CA — July 2026 — MidMods, a new design‑forward outdoor furniture company, officially launches with a mission to elevate pool culture through pool floats with modernist aesthetics and furniture‑inspired utility and comfort.
In a market crowded with novelty inflatables, disposable builds and tacky aesthetics, MidMods introduces a refreshing alternative: beautiful, architectural floats for adults who care about quality & design.
Rooted in mid‑century modernism and the playful optimism of summer, MidMods creates floats that feel at home in Palm Springs backyards, boutique hotels, and thoughtfully curated outdoor spaces. The brand’s debut collection blends clean lines, refined colors, and premium materials to deliver a new standard for pool lounging.
“After many summer seasons of swim, we hit a float wall: we had tried them all - too cheesy, too expensive, too cheap, too ugly, too bulky, too disposable." Founder Tina continues, "Our choices were either throw away toys or full fledged high maintenance pieces of pool furniture. We couldn't find the sweet spot of timeless elegance, classic materials, quality construction. So... we put our heads down (and feet up) and created MidMods!"

ABOUT FOUNDERS TINA & DAVE
Dave and Tina Payne started their professional lives in the film industry (Dave wrote and directed feature films, Tina was an actress and producer). After starting a family, they pivoted to e-commerce and launched Front Runner Outfitters, a premiere vehicle camping accessory company, in the United States. When they sold their business they hit the ground looking for their next entrepreneurial adventure. Their home, designed by acclaimed modernist architect Noah Walker, was sorely missing complimentary pool floats (first world problems!) MidMods became an opportunity to have some fun, get some sun, and provide a glow up to the typical pool float offerings.
